Description:
Receives calls from the public and other agencies concerning complaints, crimes, police emergencies and non-emergencies.  Fire/EMS, and other calls for service.  Dispatches orders to appropriate police radio patrol units, Fire/EMS and other personnel.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED, or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have a valid Texas Driver's License.

Must be able to type 35 words per minute.

Must be able to pass a background check.

 

Skills and Experience:

Basic knowledge of computer-aided dispatch system, operation and utilization of the computerized database preferred.

Working knowledge of the Dictaphone and TDD operations preferred.

Demonstrated ability in preparing, maintaining, and updating of reports and files.

Strong interpersonal skills in presenting information and interacting with the public.

Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize in a high-volume, high-pressure work environment.

Certifications in Public Safety Telecommunications and TCIC/NCIC or able to obtain within six months from date of hire.
